Dimethyl carbonate electrolyte is an organic electrolyte commonly used in lithium-ion batteries. It is a liquid composed of dimethyl carbonate and some additives (such as lithium salt). The molecular formula of dimethyl carbonate is C₃H₆O₃, which is a colorless and odorless liquid.
Compared with other organic electrolytes, dimethyl carbonate electrolyte has the following characteristics:
• High melting point and boiling point, good thermal stability;
• It has a high dielectric constant, which helps the transfer of lithium ions;
• Not easy to volatilize, which is beneficial to the cycle life of the battery;

Dimethyl carbonate electrolyte is widely used in high-energy-density energy storage devices such as lithium-ion batteries, lithium-ion capacitors, and lithium-air batteries. Specifically applicable to:
• Power battery systems for electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles;
• Power source for small power tools such as electric tools, electric bicycles and electric scooters;
• Electrolyte for household energy storage systems and industrial energy storage systems.
